When Mitsubishi wanted to break out of its brand "our cars are safe, reliable and last" they looked to a track, not a road. During their dream and development of a sexy, racing-type car they thought out loud - which racing vehicle has the tightest turn ratio, fastest start and stop, can pull 1+Gs in corners and gives the biggest bang for its buck? The answer was 85 mph racing karts, .5 inch off the ground, 1.2 Gs in the turns and the greatest thrill with your pants on. The old world go-kart had long since vanished. Testing the race karts on tight turns, long straightaways, gathering data, studying the suspension and feeling the rush gave birth to street savvy racing automobile.

They didn't go head to head with F1 or Indy Cars. They strapped a speed camera on a helmet at one of the best kart racing drivers in the U.S., Jim Hall II, at his track in Ventura, CA. The result was a quantifiable change in public perception, great publicity for Hall II's racing school and Mitsubishi was never the same. It's a shame that Hyundai didn't look to its neighboring country for some direction.

Well, I should say job well done to the Hyundai Motors Corporation as three of their world class car models topped the 2007 Total Quality Survey which was done by Strategic Vision just recently. Which of Hyundai car models tops the quality list?...
