[...] What Doesn’t: To the extent this spot is targeted at children younger than 12, we believe (as we have detailed before in our post ‘The Boomerang Effect: Advertising to Children‘) that it is a bad idea. However we also believe that these spots are very effective at reaching adults as well, and this spot delivers particularly well against the adult male audience. [...]

Steve,Thanks for your supportive comment. As a the head of a training company it is sometimes frightening to write these posts that I realize may offend current or potential clients but I think it is the right thing to do to try to advance the dialogue. It is nice to know that I'm not alone in this view...David

I agree that purposely infuencing children is a touchy marketing subject, however there are plenty of big money companies that will go with marketers that promise long term results, and I am sure there are plenty of studies to back up the branding plan with younger kids.I do believe that it is short sighted to some degree asa you have pointed out that these kids could become very untrusting in the future, and therefor the branding will be wasted, and make things harder for us in the future.Glad to see someone else not afraid to point out the negatives to this kind of work.Kudos,Steve Global Advanced Media
