I've been looking for help to solve a design flaw in my 2007 Saab 93 Convertible. In daylight, the driver cannot read the information on the infotainment screen. It create a safety hazard. I've called customer service many times but they can't help. Has anyone else had the problem and found a solution?

I know this is an old report, but have you finished your book on brands and can I get a copy somewhere?

I too am a loyal saab owner. I currently own three 9-5's. Have owned 10 saabs since 1980. The latest a 2006 9-5, is an absolutely great car, except for the perennial issue of saab road noise. If Gm were to make the 9-5 as noise free as even the smallest lexus, they would still walk away with large market share chunks, even tho they have destroyed many of the saab quirks.

thanks. ssjackson

Actually,

I must say that since the 'coöperation' with the fiat-group (Fiat, Alfa-Romeo and Lancia) with GM, I have the impression that Saab is having a revival in Europe, I don't know for the U.S., but in Belgium i've never seen so many Saabs like the last years.
(Also thanks to the fine 1.9 JTD Diesel engine 150 HP from the Fiat-group for the succes in sales)

Saab may have lost partially it's own identity (thank you GM), but the new generation of Saabs, there slowly getting back to being a Saab...

Only partially agree. 9-2x was a gm disaster. The 9-5 is becoming a gm disaster and the 9-7x is a total gm disaster. The 9-3, however, is as Saab as they come.

GM needs to remember that the primary asset of this brand is its customer loyalty. Once it does that, it'll stop creating Saabarus that just piss us off.

You are right on with regard to Saab. GM has actually eliminated many of those "quirky engineers" back in Sweden. My only hope at this point is that Saab is sold to a large European or Japanese auto group that has some respect for authenticity and tradition. GM's only goal has been to try and pull the wool over the consumer's eyes.. and you see where that has gotten them.

David,

Whilst I'm a little more optomistic about Saab's future, I enjoyed this post a great deal. Saab has not so much lost it's way, it's been removed from it (to a degree). Unfortunately market forces would have seen that happen a lot earlier and with a greater deal of finality if GM's cash hadn't have been available.

Here's hoping for Saab's future.
